March 22 – 23, 2017. B&H Event Space. New York, NY.
Instructor: Eileen Rafferty
In this introductory class we will explore several important Art Movements in Photographic History. By studying the visual approaches and the innovative photographers involved, we can begin to discover our own visual styles and intentions with our photographs. Photographic history is rich with creativity and is an inspiring resource for ideas and influences. We will explore Pictorialism from the era of Photography’s invention, The Experimental European Movements of the early 20th century and the American ‘Straight’ Photography movements which followed. We will explore the techniques, processes and ideas behind the images and study the key characters who brought each movement to life.
Class will include lectures, a gallery tour and creative assignments to inspire and enlighten! A light breakfast will be provided on the second day.
Cost for Workshop: $185
